Dramatic dark blue walls are a home trend I’ve been loving this year – one that’s being featured more and more by retailers recently. The problem is, no matter how good they look in a catalogue, there’s something quite intimidating about pots of inky paint. But I hope this post will show how versatile dark blues can be. Whether it’s navy, sea blue or a deep turquoise, these colours bring a modern yet timeless look to the home.
They’re an easy way to make a room feel cozy and sophisticated at the same time, especially when layered with other rich colours and metallics.
They make copper, silver and gold gleam brighter…
And as a perfect neutral, they enhance every colour put in front of them, making stunning backdrops for the things you want to show off!
You don’t need a massive house for them to work. These colours won’t make a room look any bigger but they can make a small space feel super chic.
Add a striking wall colour to a room that’s cramped or lacking in character and you’ve instantly transformed it into a more interesting space.
That said, when deep blues are used in small rooms, it’s best if they get plenty of natural light to prevent them from feeling claustrophobic.
But when done right, it really is to spectacular effect!
I was skeptical when I read ‘dark blue walls’. But the beautiful photos changed my mind. Dark blue is really cool!
Oh my goodness, the last Ralph Lauren Home pic is absolutely stunning!
Tell me about it! They’ve got such great style x
